Meet Shaun Thompson

Shaun Thompson is the car buying specialist behind Cash For Cars West Auckland. If you get a quote from us, speak to our team, or read one of our guides, it's Shaun's hands-on experience valuing vehicles that sits behind it.

Shaun has spent years buying, assessing and dismantling vehicles across West Auckland — everything from tidy late-model trade-ins to rusted-out non-runners pulled from back sections in the Waitākere ranges. That day-to-day experience is what lets us give a fair, firm figure in minutes rather than a vague guess.

What Shaun does

• Values cars, utes, 4WDs, vans and trucks of every make and condition — running or not, WOF or no WOF
• Prices vehicles on the two things that actually matter: resaleable parts first, then metal by weight and grade
• Oversees free same-day removal across every West Auckland suburb, from Avondale and New Lynn to Piha and Muriwai
• Makes sure the NZTA notice of disposal is completed correctly on every pickup, so your name comes off the vehicle

Why trust Shaun's valuation

A lot of "cash for cars" offers are a number pulled out of the air, then shaved down when the truck arrives. Shaun's approach is the opposite: the figure is based on what the vehicle is genuinely worth in parts and metal, it's explained if you ask, and it's the figure you're paid on pickup — no deductions at the door.

He's also straight about when scrapping isn't your best option. If a car is tidy, warranted and in demand, he'll tell you a private sale may net more. That honesty is the whole point of having a named specialist rather than an anonymous call centre.
